ZEPHYR

Orion won’t talk to me.

I’m not sure I blame him, I’d be pretty mad too if he died, went to the afterlife then came back without so much as saying hello but I wish he would give me the chance to explain myself.

But he won’t.

His mate has been alternating between stunned silence and trying to comfort him, Lorna is pissed that I blew my cover even if she did say it was probably for the best. At least Lydia was happy to see me.

She gave me a big hug as soon as everyone got here, squeezing me tightly while telling me how glad she is to have me back then she introduced me to Archer and Sadie. The female is sweet, she’s very beautiful and gives off a warmth that puts me at ease over complete strangers knowing about me, but her mate is something else entirely. He’s a lot like Wraith if I’m being honest but since we aren’t anything but acquaintances at this point, I can’t say for sure, and Archer is annoying the hell out of me.

Especially while he keeps trying to back Declan up each time he goes nose to nose with Nate.

Talk about a power struggle.

The two males couldn’t be more different if they tried, and they sure as hell couldn’t be anymore opposing than they are since Nate practically loathes my mate and has vowed to protect only me, while Declan will literally kill anything with a pulse that so much as sneezes at our king.

And since Wraith has been unconscious for a few hours and no one will let me see him, I’ve been watching the rest of them go through the motions of processing my return as well as whatever is about to happen next.

“Gentleman,” Ana says with a grin as she gets between Dec and Nate for the tenth time, placing a hand on each of their chests and pushing as if either will budge. “This is getting us nowhere, very quickly I might add, so it may be best if we let the queen⁠—”

“I need proof,” Declan grunts.

“So you’ve said.”

The male’s green eyes flick to Ana’s briefly, leaving Nate’s menacing stare long enough to drop to my friend’s fiery red ones. His expression softens the slightest bit, which is strange but as quickly as I see it, it’s gone, and Dec has resumed trying to kill my male guard with only his eyeballs. “Something only Zephyr, my queen would know.”

“Yeah!” Archer chimes in, pumping his fist in the air as he dances around behind Declan. “Between the queen and Decky-boy, mate!”

Ana rolls her eyes with a sigh as she looks at me but before she can demand I handle this, Nate loses his shit.

“She doesn’t need to prove anything to you!” He lunges forward, squishing Ana between his chest and Declan’s. “Zephyr has nothing to prove to anyone and after what happened when she attempted
